Meet Tracy
Let’s dream and drive change together.
Hi, I’m Tracy Fischman — a coach, strategist, facilitator, and community connector rooted in the pursuit of justice. I bring decades of leadership experience across nonprofit and public sectors, where I’ve led teams and organizations, launched new initiatives and divisions, raised millions of dollars, and strengthened systems — always grounded in equity and community.
I love engaging people in imaginative, generative work and strive to make processes inclusive and joyful. I’m known for my advocacy spirit, directness, care for people, and sense of humor. I approach my consulting work with curiosity and a lot of learning from successes and misses along the way, too. I live in Saint Paul, MN, with my spouse and two talkative kids.
My Experience
Decades in the Nonprofit & Government Sectors
I’ve served in many roles across tax, financial inclusion, reproductive justice, and HIV/AIDS fields – as nonprofit executive director, state agency assistant commissioner, vice president of policy, director of legislative affairs, community organizer, and board member.
Before launching my consulting practice, I served as an Assistant Commissioner for the Minnesota Department of Revenue, overseeing policy, community engagement, tax research, and the legal team. For over 11 years, I was Executive Director of Prepare + Prosper (P+P), a nonprofit championing economic justice and financial inclusion. During that time, P+P significantly expanded its scope, impact, and reach. Earlier in my career, I held leadership roles with Planned Parenthood of Illinois as VP of Public Policy and the Chicago Department of Public Health as Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs for STD/HIV/AIDS.
My current and past Board experiences include GiveMN, Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, Women Winning, Girl’s Best Friend Foundation, Citizen Action of IL, AIDS Action Council, and others. I hold a bachelor’s degree from Macalester College and a Master’s Degree of Public Policy from the University of Chicago.
